Job Title
Vocalist, Booking Agent

Linda A. Smith, a jazz vocalist whose greatest joy is creating opportunities for other artists, especially young emerging musicians. Born in Chicago and raised in Los Angeles, she found her musical footing at Los Angeles City College, in weekly workshops in Leimert Park with Dini Clarke and Howlett Smith, and through the support of artists and friends like Cathy Segal‑Garcia. These workshops and friendships were instrumental in shaping her musical journey. Throughout her career, Linda has crossed paths with remarkable artists who influenced her path. She frequently booked Todd Hunter — longtime musical director for Dionne Warwick — at Urban Press Winery, where legends like Ben Vereen would occasionally stop and sing with the band.. Vocalist Bili Redd Thedford became another pivotal influence, introducing her to bassist Jaco Kimura and opening the door to more than a decade of performances in Japan. Linda’s passion for community eventually led her into talent curation. After performing at Urban Press Winery, she was hired to book artists — a role that aligned perfectly with her commitment to nurturing musicians. She has booked standout vocalists such as Cheryl Barnes and Liz Cole, as well as emerging talent like seventeen‑year‑old guitarist Jackson Petty. Linda believes it is an honor and a blessing to be able to support both seasoned artists and young musicians. For Linda, music is more than performance — it is lineage, community, and love. She continues to honor the mentors who supported her by doing the same for others, all while being grounded by the unconditional support of her daughter Michele and her son James Dyrrian.
