Lou Rosenthal began playing drums at an early age and went on to perform in bands throughout Southport, Merseyside. After purchasing a Ludwig drum kit, he joined a more serious group and earned the role of drummer for the rock band Export after winning a “Battle of the Bands” competition. While with the group, Lou recorded live on the BBC, and the band secured a record deal with Epic America following a showcase in New York. They recorded “Living In The Fear Of The Private Eye,” produced by Lance Quinn, known for his work with Bon Jovi and Lita Ford. Export toured with British hitmakers Slade and developed a strong national following, reflecting Lou’s fervent dedication to his craft. Lou later joined Parr Street Studios in Liverpool, owned by Phil Collins and Genesis’ management company, Hit & Run Publishing. After several years at the studio, he returned to performing, playing drums with the Merseybeats. With the group, he toured extensively across the UK and Europe on 1960s revival tours, sharing stages with artists such as Chris Farlowe, Wayne Fontana, and the Swinging Blue Jeans.
