Mike Beigel is a pioneering inventor whose pedals and synthesizers have been embraced by musicians around the world, including icons like Stevie Wonder, the Grateful Dead, Bootsy Collins, Joe Zawinul, Larry Coryell, and Chick Corea. In 1972, Mike founded Musitronics Corporation with a mission to create effects pedals that offered truly unique and groundbreaking sounds. His first creation, the Mu-Tron III, was the world’s first envelope-controlled filter and quickly became a favorite among funk musicians. In 1973, Stevie Wonder famously ran the Mu-Tron III through his Clavinet, crafting the iconic sound featured on his hit song “Higher Ground.” This milestone marked just the beginning of Mike’s extraordinary career. Over the years, he has developed a wide range of innovative products, holding around 45 U.S. patents. His creations include the Mu-Tron Octave Divider, Phasor, Flanger, Vol-Wah Pedal, and Bi-Phase, each contributing to the evolution of modern music effects.
