Rich Neville
Oral History Information
Rich Neville spent his life making music and, for decades, helped others achieve their musical dreams. He was a touring musician who later built a career in music retail, never letting go of the passion he first discovered as a kid in the school band playing trombone. He gigged in rock bands on bass, and after a stint in the U.S. Army, began setting up PA systems for Sound West in San Diego. That opportunity led to engineering and playing jobs, including running sound for Return to Forever in 1974. Over the years, Rich toured with Vince Gill, Ronnie Dunn, Paco, and Tanya Tucker (among many others), and while off the road worked in several music retail stores, including Driver Music in Oklahoma. In the late 1990s, he moved to Flagstaff and began working at Arizona Music Pro, a role he thoroughly enjoyed. He called on schools to assist band directors with their instrument and accessory needs and found great satisfaction in helping musicians of all ages who walked into the store in search of guidance.
