R.J. Jacinto is a musician, entrepreneur, and innovator whose career has helped shape the modern music industry in the Philippines. Inspired by artists such as Elvis Presley, Jimmie Rodgers, and Duane Eddy, as well as American folk music, R.J. began playing ukulele at age eight and guitar by eleven, forming his first band in 1960 while still a student. His group quickly gained national attention, earning him the nickname “the Filipino Elvis.” At just 15 years old, R.J. designed and built what is widely recognized as the first multi-track recording studio in Asia in 1961, using cutting-edge technology and equipment he sourced himself. This pioneering achievement laid the foundation for a lifetime of innovation in music production and business. R.J. went on to establish several influential companies, including RJ Guitars, RJ Music Academy, and Guitarland. In 1988, he designed his first guitar for personal use, but growing demand led him to begin producing instruments for others, eventually exporting guitars worldwide. Through his work, R.J. has remained dedicated to expanding access to music and inspiring generations of musicians.
