Oral History Information

Rosemary Bailey began her remarkable musical career at an early age after demonstrating perfect pitch and studying classical piano at DePaul University under Dr. Florence Galijikian. A national television appearance at age six, performing Liszt’s Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2, introduced audiences to her extraordinary talent, but it was the discovery of the Hammond organ that defined her path. Soon invited to demonstrate Hammond instruments, Rosemary became one of the company’s youngest concert artists, touring extensively throughout the United States and around the world while helping introduce electronic keyboard instruments to new audiences during the rapid growth of the organ market. Her career included performances with major orchestras, appearances alongside celebrated entertainers, and musical direction for touring stage productions. In later years, Rosemary performed internationally for Technics and Roland, maintaining a decades-long relationship with leading instrument manufacturers. Now based in Southern California, Rosemary continues to coach, arrange, and record music while generously sharing her knowledge, ideas, and industry connections as a valued friend and supporter of NAMM’s Oral History Program, helping preserve the stories of the music community she has served throughout her life.
