Alexander Kaloian is a composer and musician known for his distinctive musical voice and evocative orchestral works. A self-taught musician from an early age, Alexander quickly developed a natural connection to music, later refining his skills through formal study at Berklee College of Music. During this time, he was surrounded by talented peers, including his roommate Curtis Williams, who went on to tour with Kool & the Gang. Alexander continued to expand his musical experiences through performance, including playing in the Fleet Marine Force Pacific Band, while also pursuing a deep interest in composition. His works, which include marches, tone poems, and symphonies, often reflect a strong sense of cultural identity, drawing inspiration from his Armenian heritage. Over the years, Alexander has studied with a range of respected mentors and developed a broad musical perspective that spans classical traditions and global influences. His compositions are noted for their dynamic contrasts and expressive depth. He was interviewed for the NAMM Oral History program in 2026, where he shared insights into his musical journey and creative process.
