Billy Gill
Oral History Information
Billy Gill often smiles when recalling how his love of music began—with a Clash album that ignited a lifelong passion for the guitar. That spark set him on a path that would eventually connect him with some of the most respected names and companies in the music products industry. One of the most remarkable moments of his journey happened purely by chance. While skateboarding near what he thought was just another warehouse, Billy unknowingly passed by the Seymour Duncan factory. A fortuitous meeting with Cathy Duncan would change his life forever. She became one of his most valued mentors and offered him a position as Manager of Export Sales, a role completely new to him at the time. Driven by gratitude and determination, Billy dove into the work, putting in long hours to learn the business inside and out. The experience opened his eyes to the global community of music makers and deepened his respect for the industry he had come to love. After more than a decade with Seymour Duncan and a meaningful tenure with Warwick, Billy joined the Taylor Guitars team in 2010—a move he describes as his “dream job.” Surrounded by talented colleagues and visionary leadership, Billy has become a proud spokesperson for Taylor’s values of craftsmanship, sustainability, and community. He has witnessed firsthand the excitement of groundbreaking product launches, the seamless transition of leadership from Bob Taylor to Andy Powers, and the enduring friendships he has built across the world—all reflections of a career driven by gratitude, passion, and the joy of music.
