Rick James

Darnell Atcherson has always enjoyed helping others and making people happy, which is why he is ideally suited as a production assistant for Live Sound events. He began his career working for Rick James in the office, which is how he met the band members of New Edition. Darnell went on the road touring with the group in the late 1980s and became friendly with Bobby Brown. When Bobby’s solo career took off, Darnell became one of his regular roadies. Whenever possible, Darnell would find ways to fulfill the needs of the artists while on the road.

Lance “KC” Jackson was always the one to fix the instruments in the band growing up. He realized early on the importance of learning a little bit of everything and continuing to educate himself on new programs and gear over the years. This approach to his career led to an impressive list of artists he has worked with such as Rick James, Marvin Gaye, Sheila E, Earth Wind & Fire and so many others! Michael Kubera grew up in the music store his father established in Buffalo, New York.  Kubera Music was a full line store that specialized in the big name brands as well as the hard to find items.  The store became a hub for the local musicians as well as many who would launch their own musical careers such as Rick James and even the future President/CEO of NAMM, purchased his first drum kit from Kubera Music.
