Don Lace Jr. is the President of Lace Music Products, a family-founded company known for its innovation in guitar pickup design and tone development. Established in 1979 by his father, Don Lace Sr., the company began in the family garage before evolving into a respected name in the music products industry. Don grew up immersed in the business and later joined alongside his brother Jeff, helping to carry forward the company’s legacy of engineering excellence. Building on the success of the Lace Sensor pickup—famously adopted by Fender from 1987 to 1996—Don has played a key role in advancing the company’s product line, including the development of the Alumitone pickup, known for its clarity and innovative aluminum-based design. Under his leadership, Lace Music Products has continued to serve professional musicians and tone enthusiasts worldwide. Guided by a mission to help players “sound more like themselves,” Don remains committed to innovation, quality, and honoring the legacy of his father. He was interviewed for the NAMM Oral History program in 2026.
