George Hearn combined his lifelong fascination of electronic musical instruments with a strong engineering background to become an innovative synthesizer designer and founder of UDO Audio. Based in Bristol, England, George studied Electrical and Electronics Engineering at the University of Bristol before applying his design expertise across a range of demanding industries, including medical equipment, Formula 1 racing, and aviation. In 2018, he founded UDO Audio with a vision of creating modern instruments that balanced advanced synthesis technology and an intuitive and inspiring playing experience. The company quickly gained international attention with the early 2020 release of the Super 6, a hybrid polyphonic synthesizer praised for its distinctive binaural sound design, analog warmth, and performance-oriented interface. UDO Audio’s instruments blend FPGA-based digital sound generation with analog signal paths, reflecting George’s passion for combining precision engineering with musical creativity. Through continued innovations, including the Super Gemini and other new designs, George has helped establish UDO Audio as one of the most respected modern synthesizer companies in the electronic music community.
