Job Title
Musician, NAMM Volunteer

Jeff Schermer proudly advocates for music and often tells young students to focus on their passion and don’t let anyone tell you to give us, follow your musical dreams. Jeff’s love of music goes back to listening to his father’s record collection. His parents purchased a guitar for Jeff when he was eight and he studied music in college but was discouraged by someone to follow music instead focused on records management and photography. He served as record manager for two movie studios in Los Angeles, Warner Brothers and Disney. It was while at Disney he was given the opportunity to attend the NAMM Trade Show in 1989. All the while he worked for the studios and later as a professional wedding and portrait photographer, Jeff played in bands for formed his own groups. For over twenty years Jeff has served as a volunteer in NAMM’s Resource Center. He has contributed greatly to the oral history program, from noting interview time codes to conducting interviews himself. We proudly documented Jeff’s story in 2025 as part of the interview program he has been so proud of supporting all these years, even though it made music historian Dan Del Fiorentino jealous when hearing how Jeff got to meet Elvis Presley in 1965.
