Job Title
Vice President & General Counsel

Roland Corporation US

Jun Yamato was born in Japan and moved with his family to New York at the age of three, growing up in the United States while maintaining a strong connection to his Japanese heritage. Music played an important role in his early years, and he performed trumpet in his high school band while also learning to play the guitar. Jun later pursued a career in law, focusing his studies on corporate law and contracts. After completing his education, he hoped to work with a Japanese company and soon found opportunities after relocating to Los Angeles. While working with several law firms, he became involved in a 1993 project connected to Roland Corporation and its founder, Ikutaro Kakehashi. The following year, when Dennis Houlihan joined Roland Corporation U.S. as president, he was seeking a corporate attorney and recognized that Jun already understood the company’s culture and operations. As Vice President and General Counsel for Roland Corporation U.S., Jun has helped guide the company through many legal and strategic matters, including protecting the groundbreaking Roland V-Drums technology through patents and copyrights.
