Mike Soldano says he was late to game, picking up the guitar when he was 20, but soon made up for lost time by jumping in with both feet! He studied the instrument and listened to live and recorded guitar heroes at every chance he got. Next he fell into building guitars and took a woodworking class at Western University where he received an A for his first guitar. As friends would ask him to repair their guitars, the request often ended with “would you fix my amp too?” which led Mike into the world of designing his own amplifiers. Mike established Soldano Custom Amplification by releasing his tube based amps starting with the SLO-100. The amp quickly fell into the hands of top performers who helped spread the word and in a matter of months artists such as Howard Leese, Eric Clapton, John Fogerty, Lou Reed, Eddie Van Halen and Steve Lukather were bragging about the amp's power and uniqueness.  A series of products followed including the SLO-30, the 2x12 Slant Classic and the G.T.O (gain, tone and output) preamp. In 2019 he sold the company to Boutique Amps Distribution and remains with the team as a designer, doing what he has always enjoyed the most!
