Norm Thompson dedicated his career to serving the music products industry through retail, wholesale distribution, and musical instrument manufacturing. He began his journey in the 1950s as a salesman for music retailers in Memphis, Tennessee, eventually becoming a buyer for O. K. Hauck. That position introduced him to many of the industry’s leading wholesalers and laid the foundation for a lifetime of building relationships throughout the music products community. Following his years in retail, Norm transitioned into wholesale distribution, where he found his true professional calling. He enjoyed a distinguished career of more than two decades with Kaman, earning the respect of colleagues and customers alike through his knowledge, integrity, and dedication to serving music dealers across the country. Norm later joined Jupiter Band Instruments, where he played a vital role in expanding the company’s presence within the United States school music market, helping bring quality instruments to countless students and educators. In the later years of his career, he represented Bari Woodwinds, continuing to share his passion for music by supporting musicians through the company’s line of mouthpieces. Norm’s lifelong commitment to the music products industry, combined with his genuine care for the people he served, left a lasting impression on colleagues and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and working with him.
