Paul Pigat

Paul Pigat is a Canadian guitarist, vocalist, songwriter, educator, and instrument builder whose versatile style embraces rockabilly, western swing, jazz, blues, country, and classical music. A Toronto native, Paul began playing professionally as a young teenager before studying classical guitar, theory, and composition at the University of Toronto. After moving to British Columbia in 1994, he became a presence in the West Coast roots-music community. As the leader of Cousin Harley, Paul earned an international following through energetic performances and recordings that honor rock and roll while pushing the music in fresh directions. His acoustic Boxcar Campfire project and jazz performances reveal still more dimensions of his artistry. Paul has performed or recorded with artists including Neko Case, Jim Byrnes, Jakob Dylan, and the Sojourners. A longtime Gretsch artist and clinician, he also restores and builds guitars, teaches workshops, and enthusiastically shares his knowledge of instruments, technique, and musical tradition.
