Perry Ditch
Oral History Information
Perry Ditch enjoyed a rich and deeply rewarding 27-year career as a high school band director, during which he inspired generations of students through his passionate commitment to music education. Among his many memorable highlights were leading his band in a performance at Disneyland and teaching multiple generations of students, including the siblings and children of former band members. Now the devoted director of his local community band, Perry is delighted to continue making music with many of his former students. During the pandemic, he creatively arranged for his White Oak High School Symphonic Band to perform via Skype for elementary schools and retirement communities. A serendipitous connection with a school in Nairobi, Kenya, led to a transformative relationship with the Cheery Education Centre, which Perry and his students have supported through ongoing fundraising and awareness efforts. His multiple visits to the school remain life-defining experiences. Now serving as a dedicated school road rep for Fuller’s Music, Perry continues to champion music education and advocacy with unwavering enthusiasm and generosity.
