Pete Seeger was the American folk icon who made it a personal goal to bring peace to the world by getting people to sing!  His role in the folk music movement, beginning in the 1930's, forever changed the role music played in protest, celebration and sorrow.  Within the music products industry, Pete helped generate great interest in the five string banjo by his performances, as well as the popular method book he wrote that has been in print for over 50 years.  He was also a well-known songwriter who penned such classics as “Turn, Turn, Turn,” “If I Had a Hammer” and it was Pete who changed the word “will” to “shall” in the Civil Rights theme “We Shall Overcome.”
