Ray Matuza is a guitarist, educator, and writer whose career spans more than four decades, with a deep focus on jazz and fingerstyle guitar. Beginning as a teacher at just 17 years old, Ray developed a lifelong commitment to sharing his knowledge while continuing to grow as a performer across a wide range of musical settings. His work as a senior editor for Twentieth Century Guitar Magazine opened doors throughout the music industry, allowing him to connect with many of his musical heroes and peers. Ray attended his first NAMM Show in 1998, an experience he describes as “a kid in a candy store,” and even had the opportunity to perform alongside his guitar hero, John Pisano. Over the years, Ray has built strong relationships within the guitar community, including a close friendship and collaboration with YES guitarist Steve Howe. Through his performances, teaching, and writing, he continues to celebrate the versatility and expressive potential of the guitar.
