Richard Scalesse began his journey playing drums as a child before developing a strong interest in computers and technology. In high school, he and his friends began building computers from individual components, leading to early work in programming and coding. By the late 1990s, Richard and his team launched an e-commerce platform focused on selling musical instruments and pro audio equipment, helping bring music retail into the emerging online marketplace. Over time, his work evolved into developing specialized software solutions for the music products industry. This led to the creation of MusicWare, a platform designed specifically for music retailers to streamline operations such as inventory management, rentals, and sales. Built by individuals with firsthand retail experience, MusicWare reflects a deep understanding of the needs of music businesses. One of its early beta testers was industry veteran Tim Pratt, who implemented the system across his stores. Richard attended his first NAMM Show in 2008, further strengthening his connection to the music products community. By 2019, his company expanded into payment solutions, continuing to innovate at the intersection of music retail and technology.
