Musician, Guitarist

Ron Escheté grew up in and around Houma, Louisiana and, during his NAMM Oral History interview, reflected, “I was never taught the blues, it was just something all around all the time. Playing the blues to me is like walking or breathing air.” As a musician, Ron developed a unique style on both the seven-string guitar and standard guitar, performing with artists including Buddy Greco, Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, Diana Krall, Dizzy Gillespie, and Milt Jackson among many others. As an educator, Ron taught at several universities and was among the first instructors at Musicians Institute. Over the years, he authored several respected instructional books including Melodic Chord Phrases, The Jazz Guitar Soloist, and Super Solos, helping inspire generations of jazz guitarists.
