William “Oz” Anderson followed an unconventional path into the music products industry, blending a deep background in engineering with a lifelong passion for guitar. After forming a band in high school, he grew frustrated as a player and shifted his focus toward engineering, eventually earning a mechanical engineering degree from Georgia Tech. His early career included work on hydrogen fuel systems for Chrysler, research at a solar energy laboratory, and more than a decade designing high-performance racing engines. Along the way, Oz developed a growing interest in amplifiers and vacuum tube technology, which ultimately led him back to the world of music. As the founder of Oz Guitar Works, he applied his diverse experience to rethinking the solid body electric guitar from the ground up. His designs emphasized versatility, portability, and precision, appealing to studio musicians, enthusiasts, and innovators alike. Known for his wide-ranging expertise and inventive approach, Oz brought a distinctive, engineering-driven perspective to guitar design.
