NAMM Director Appointed to Two Arts Advocacy Committees

Mary L. Luehrsen Will Provide Outreach for NAMM and the Music Products Industry on National and International Music Forums

Carlsbad, Calif.

NAMM, the International Music Products Association, announced today that Mary L. Luehrsen, director of Public Affairs and Government Relations, has been named to the advocacy committee of the International Society for Music Education (ISME) and the national steering committee of the Arts Education Partnership (AEP), representing NAMM’s Membership and the music products industry.

Luehrsen will serve on the ISME advocacy commission from 2006 to 2008. This six-person commission is devoted to music education advocacy and policy to further ISME’s overall mission of stimulating music education as an integral part of general education worldwide.

Luehrsen will also represent NAMM on AEP’s Steering Committee, which is comprised of 42 organizations that represent a cross-section of organizations involved in the coalition. AEP’s mission is to demonstrate and promote the essential role of the arts in enabling every student to succeed in school, life and work in the global economy of the 21st century.
