NAMM Foundation Attends National School Boards Association Conference to Show Support for Music Education

CARLSBAD, Calif.

The NAMM Foundation announced today that it hosted several music-related events at the National School Boards Association (NSBA), held this past weekend in San Francisco, Calif., to show its support of school music education and demonstrate to school board members the benefits of children actively participating in school music programs.

For years, NAMM has partnered with NSBA in the shared vision that all children deserve access to quality musical experiences in school. The NAMM Foundation has continued to reiterate its research and experience-based evidence supporting the benefits of music education to key school board members at the conference who are responsible for district education budgets.

This year, the foundation hosted an informative session called “Now More than Ever, We Want ‘That’ Music Program for Our Students: Implementing Quality Arts Programs to Boost Student Achievement and Outcomes.”

In addition, the NAMM Foundation collaborated with VH1 Save the Music Foundation, Remo Inc., and Northeastern Music Publications to create “Music Main Street,” an area featuring live musical performances by students in the West African Drum and Dance Ensemble at Blythewood High School from Blythewood South Carolina on Saturday, and students from the Alta Loma Middle School wind ensemble from South San Francisco on Sunday afternoon.

The foundation also sponsored a booth at the conference, providing attendees with valuable music education advocacy information to help attendees strengthen music education programs in their communities, and in collaboration with Remo Inc. and NSBA, hosted a drum circle, which provided a fun hands-on music-making experience for eager conference attendees.
