NAMM Launches SupportMusic Coalition to Strengthen Grassroots Music Advocacy Nationwide

NAMM’s SupportMusic Coalition is an initiative to empower NAMM members to advocate for music education at the national, state and local levels. Music education programs currently face challenges ranging from budget cuts and policy changes to resource constraints. The coalition provides advocacy resources to assist in efforts to help protect funding and advance music education programs across the country, leveraging the collective influence and expertise of diverse stakeholders.
How the Coalition Works
The SupportMusic Coalition addresses a critical need in music advocacy: It offers a comprehensive platform for resource sharing and strategic collaboration between NAMM members and other organizations doing this work. The coalition also connects NAMM members with educational institutions, arts organizations and nonprofits in a unified effort.
Here’s how the SupportMusic Coalition is designed to maximize impact and accessibility:

Addressing Critical Advocacy Needs
The SupportMusic Coalition represents a shift from simply information sharing to active collaborative advocacy. All participants are expected to contribute actively rather than simply receive information, ensuring the coalition operates as a true collaborative network where shared engagement drives collective success.
The coalition's formation comes at a crucial time for music education advocacy. With ongoing pressures on school budgets, changing educational priorities, and evolving policy landscapes, coordinated advocacy efforts have never been more important. The SupportMusic Coalition provides a framework for connecting the music products industry with:
• Early identification of threats to music education programs
• Rapid response to legislative and regulatory challenges
• Sharing of successful advocacy strategies across states
• Coordination of grassroots mobilization efforts
• Building relationships between industry and educational stakeholders
Take Action!
NAMM and NAfME have launched a campaign on federal funding to support music education, and we hope that you will share it widely with your networks during this critical time as Congress considers budget appropriations for education.
Looking Ahead
The SupportMusic Coalition represents NAMM's commitment to strengthening the entire music education ecosystem through strategic collaboration and resource sharing. By bringing together diverse stakeholders under a unified advocacy framework, the coalition aims to create lasting positive change for music education programs nationwide.
