Adnan Sungurlu

Adnan Sungurlu is a Turkish music products industry leader whose lifelong dedication has helped establish Zuhal Müzik as one of Türkiye’s most respected musical instrument retailers and distributors. Born in 1958, Adnan grew up in a family whose livelihood centered on the jewelry business until a life-changing decision reshaped their future. After his sister Zuhal married and moved to Istanbul, the family relocated to remain close to her. In 1976, Adnan’s father founded Zuhal Müzik, naming the company in his daughter’s honor. Only two years later, tragedy struck when Adnan’s father passed away. Still a young man, Adnan left his formal education to help lead the family business alongside his brother, Osman. Together they transformed Zuhal Müzik from a small retailer into a nationally recognized company through determination, entrepreneurial vision, and a deep appreciation for music. Early trips to the Frankfurt Music Fair opened doors to international partnerships, including distributorships for respected brands such as Kawai and Washburn, helping introduce world-class instruments to musicians throughout Türkiye. Although he never received formal musical training, Adnan possesses a remarkable natural ability to play a wide variety of instruments, reflecting his genuine love of music. His longtime friendship with celebrated guitarist Asım Can Gündüz—known to many American audiences as “Awesome John”—further strengthened his ties to the international music community. Adnan continues to serve as Chairman of the Board of Zuhal Müzik, working alongside his sons, Ali and Umur, and the next generation of the Sungurlu family to continue the company’s enduring legacy while inspiring future generations of music makers.
