Candace Irizarry
Oral History Information
Candace Irizarry traces her passion for music back to middle school, when a teacher handed her a pair of drumsticks. That simple gesture started a fervent love of music and sound that shaped her path. Candace earned a degree in audio engineering and was elected president of her local chapter of the Audio Engineering Society (AES), where she connected with fellow audio professionals and helped strengthen the community around her craft. As a sales engineer for Sweetwater Sound, one of the industry’s preeminent music retailers, she helps musicians and engineers find the right gear to bring their creative ideas to life. In 2026 Candace proudly took part in the annual Women of NAMM Leadership Summit at NAMM headquarters in Carlsbad, California. In her NAMM Oral History interview, she spoke warmly about the camaraderie she found there and about the teacher who first put music in her hands.
