Kitten is the mascot at Candyman Strings & Things in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Watching customers walk into the store and immediately smile when they see Kitten is a joy to witness. Her proud owner is Chelsie Reed, daughter of Cindy and Rand Cook, the owners of Candyman. Chelsie is currently the Marketing Coordinator for the store and at first thought, it was odd to have a dog named Kitten, but there is no denying, the name fits her perfectly. Samuel “Fatdog” Cohen was a colorful and beloved figure in the music industry who founded the legendary Subway Guitars in Berkeley, California, in 1968. Max Jones is the official greeter at Bill Jones Music in Knoxville. He does his best to meet each person as they enter the store and won’t mind if the customers take a moment to rub his belly. The founders of the store, Bill and Marjorie Jones, adopted Max when he was just 3 weeks old and he grew up in the store. He is very comfortable around people, which helps each customer feel more relaxed as they shop for an instrument or ask about music lessons. In no time, Max became the official greeter and he became a great benefit to the sales staff for helping each person feel welcomed.

Perry Pedersen is a full blooded Basset Hound, who has been a show dog for several years.  His role in the music industry started when he began joining his owners, John and Nedra, on walks to their music store in Burbank, California.  Perry is the official store greeter and plays a vital role in making customers feel at ease and at home when they visit.  John has even credited Perry for the sales of several instruments. Perry is missing a tooth but is otherwise intact. Perry is musical himself as evidenced by his soulful howl.  

Hopper Petsch is Lindsay’s dog and the mascot of Maple Street Guitars in Atlanta, Georgia. Always eager to greet customers, especially those who toss his ball, Hopper brings a relaxed and family feel to the store that is located, you guessed it, on Maple Street. Swing by and ask for Hopper!

Paisley Rosenthal is a rescue dog who has become the mascot for the Denver Folklore Center. The store was established in 1962 to serve the Folk music community. When Saul Rosenthal purchased the store, he knew it would be fitting to have a four-legged mascot greet his customers. Paisley does a wonderful job making her guests feel right at home, especially if you bring her a treat.

Red Dog Weber first encountered a pogo cello at the NAMM Show in the early 1950s and was inspired to create a percussive version for his band. In 1958, he began designing the boom schtick, an innovative instrument he crafted entirely by hand. Over the years, Red Dog made thousands of boom schticks, each reflecting his meticulous craftsmanship. He continued building them until 2011, when poor health forced him to retire. The boom schtick was primarily sold in high-end department stores, often purchased as whimsical gifts, but it also found its way into recordings and stage performa

Jerry "Swamp Dogg" Williams is the songwriter and blues singer who began his recording career in 1954.  His soul and R&B-based blues included "There Ain't Enough Love," "She's So Devine" and "I'm in the Danger Zone."  His popular singles of the 1950s and 60s on 45rpm changed with the trends of R&B recordings of the 1970s and he found greater success with the LP format.
