This audio only interview was conducted for a radio program by Dan Del Fiorentino and donated to the NAMM Oral History program: Jo Stafford had a remarkable career as both a big band singer and as a solo recording artist after the swing era. Her career included a string of hit popular songs such as "You Belong to Me" and "Stardust" as a member of the vocal group The Pied Pipers with the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra. During that time, she often served as back up to a young Frank Sinatra. Jo was very active performing for USO shows during World War II. At the war's end, she signed a solo career with Capitol Records and remained in the studios for several years waxing hundreds of songs. She later became active in charity work including helping fund the Society of Singers.
