Kat Sam

Kat Sam found her place in music playing percussion in school and went on to earn her degree and become a band director. She loved teaching and stepped away only when she was asked to manage the Memphis Youth Symphony, one of the region’s preeminent youth programs, known for producing remarkable musicians. Kat was then hired by Amro Music in Memphis to work with band directors at area schools, a perfect fit given her years on the podium. She later helmed the store’s instrument repair shop, which services hundreds of school band instruments on a regular basis. When Amro asked her to become Director of School Services, the role brought together the skills she had built over her career. In 2026 Kat attended the Women of NAMM Leadership Summit. What she valued most was getting to know her fellow attendees, and she left confident that lifelong friendships had formed among the women she met there.
