Lauren Carr
Oral History Information
Lauren Carr discovered her love of music in middle school when she began playing the flute, inspired by the sounds of her mother singing in church. Those early musical memories shaped her path, leading her to earn a degree in music education. Always curious about how things worked, Lauren developed a passion for the technical side of music and attended instrument repair school, turning her natural talent for tinkering into a rewarding career. She often jokes that it started with taking her own flute apart to fix small leaks—and grew into a lifelong dedication to helping others make music. Working closely with Flute Authority and her team at West Music, Lauren takes great pride in the craftsmanship, service, and relationships that define her work. She is also an active member of NAMM Young Professionals, participating in its mentorship program. Lauren participated in the 2025 Women of NAMM (WoN) Leadership Summit, a yearly event designed to foster leadership development and expand participants’ professional networks.
