NAMM’s Museum of Making Music

Linda Rufkahr’s love of music began as far back as she can remember and grew stronger during her teenage years attending concerts throughout Southern California. By the age of 14, she was already immersed in the excitement of live performances, and as she grew older she gained backstage access, learning about musical equipment, meeting artists and crews, and even encountering performers such as Rod Stewart. Early in her professional life, Linda focused on fundraising work before being introduced to the music products industry through her husband, Bob Rufkahr. Attending her first NAMM Show with Bob opened her eyes to the close-knit spirit of the industry, where she quickly realized how respected and beloved he was among exhibitors and attendees alike. Linda immediately felt welcomed into what became a second family. Together, she and Bob attended the grand opening of NAMM’s Museum of Making Music in 2000, a place she would later rediscover as a volunteer docent—a role she deeply treasures. Linda also shared many fond memories of traveling with Bob and assisting with his company, Image Marketing, which continues today under the leadership of his sons. Following Bob’s passing, Linda found renewed purpose and community through her continued involvement with the museum and the NAMM family she has come to cherish.
