Miriam Risko is a vocalist, educator, and arts advocate whose lifelong connection to music began in childhood. Raised in a musical family, she studied piano, voice, and musical theater from a young age, developing a passion for performance that shaped her career. While attending college, she expanded into contemporary music, performing with bands and gaining an appreciation for the unique vocal demands of pop and rock styles. As a performer and educator, Miriam specializes in contemporary voice instruction, helping singers develop technique, confidence, and stage presence. Her commitment to lifelong learning has led her to pursue advanced studies in Contemporary Commercial Music (CCM) pedagogy through Shenandoah University and ongoing professional studies through Berklee College of Music. In the 1990s, Miriam performed alongside guitarist and educator Mike Risko in a local band. Their shared passion for music and education led to the creation of Mike Risko Music in Ossining, New York, an award-winning music school and retail store serving hundreds of students each week through lessons, workshops, camps, and performance opportunities. Deeply committed to community engagement, Miriam has developed programs that expand access to music, including an instrument donation initiative that has placed hundreds of instruments into the hands of aspiring musicians. Whether teaching, performing, mentoring, or advocating for music education, she remains dedicated to helping people discover confidence, connection, and creativity through music.
