Mitch Colby is an amplifier designer, industry executive, and tone expert whose career has spanned more than four decades at the highest levels of the music products industry. Beginning his career in the late 1970s, Mitch worked with Unicord, the U.S. distributor for Korg and Marshall, where he quickly became deeply involved in guitar products, marketing, and artist relations. Over time, he rose to Vice President of Guitar Products, helping guide the U.S. presence of Marshall while collaborating closely with teams in the U.K. on amplifier development and strategy. Mitch played a key role in the evolution of modern amplifier design, contributing to projects involving Marshall, Vox, and Park, including the development of notable AC30 models. His deep technical knowledge and hands-on experience have earned him a reputation as one of the industry’s foremost authorities on tube amplification. Today, Mitch leads Sundragon Amps, where he continues to design and refine high-performance amplifiers for discerning players. His work with top artists, including collaborations with Jimmy Page, reflects his lifelong commitment to achieving exceptional tone and advancing amplifier design.
