Benny Englund was a rock and roll singer as a teen when he fell in love with the music industry!  He toured with groups as a roadie and sound engineer.  He also worked for a time for a few record companies and traveled with groups such as the Hollies with Graham Nash and the Rolling Stones.  Benny opened the first music store in Sweden to sell amplifiers and had his own management company at the same time.

Dan Hagedorn grew up watching his father run the family’s music retail business and always knew he would work in the music industry. His father, known as Crazy Al, began his business in the basement of the family home and Dan can recall vividly the Vox Amplifier boom of the 1960s and the impact it had on the industry, let alone his father's small business. In those early days Dan would work for his father after school and then go out and gig with him at night. In 1974 they moved the business out of the basement and into a real brick-and-mortar store they named DJ’s Rock N’ Roll.

Robert J. Jones traveled on a tour bus with his father and sang gospel music together for many years as the Song Fellows. They recorded for Homeland Records in Nashville and performed around the country. In 1957, Robert’s father opened Valley Music Company in Bakersfield, CA, where Robert worked until attending college in the mid 1960s. The company expanded to a second location in southern California, where Robert was introduced to the Thomas Organ Company. The store sold the instruments for several years.

Ray Manzarek founded the iconic rock band The Doors on the beach in Venice in 1965 with his friend from UCLA film school, Jim Morrison. From that sunny summer day of sharing songs and the idea of starting a rock band, Ray and Jim went on to become immortal rock royalty. Having picked up a Vox organ as part of an initial record deal, Ray gave the Doors a dominant part of their defining sound that set them apart from all others. Paulo Nogueira is the co-owner of Americo Nogueira LDA along with his brother José. Their store in Portugal originally opened in 1860 and in 1947 their father began working at the store. In 1965 he purchased the store and renamed it, after himself, and began focusing on selling the popular musical instruments of the day, including home organs and guitars. Paulo grew up in the family business and found he had a real passion for the music industry and its people. John Oram is known as the father of British EQ, and has played an enormous role in the way recordings are made and how sound is heard on those recordings. At the incredible age of 15 years old, John had his first control mixer and made history with Dick Denney at VOX where the team created the first Wah Wah pedal, as well as the AC30, AC50, and the Super Beatle.

Laura Whitmore’s passion for music began at a young age, learning to play guitar and writing songs as a teenager. She attended Hofstra University where she earned a B.S. in Music Merchandising and an MBA in Marketing. Laura worked for CBS Records and Korg, where she rose through the ranks of marketing assistant to marketing manager and artist relations for Korg, Marshall, and Vox.
