Ping Gu

Ping Gu is an executive and innovator in the professional lighting industry whose career blends global business experience with a passion for advancing stage technology. Raised in Hong Kong and educated in Canada and Boston, Ping developed an early understanding of international commerce and engineering. He began his professional career working for Walmart, where he focused on supply chain and online management, gaining valuable experience in global logistics and digital commerce. Building on the foundation established by his father, Fung Gu, who founded Big Dipper Laser in 2003, Ping helped guide the company’s evolution from industrial laser manufacturing into professional stage lighting and international export markets. After becoming CEO in 2021, Ping led the company through the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic and worldwide supply chain disruptions, providing stability during a critical period of transition. Today, Ping emphasizes innovation, accessible professional lighting solutions, and initiatives that support and encourage young people entering the entertainment technology field, helping position the company for continued growth within the global music products and live production industries.
