Roger White
Oral History Information
Roger White’s connection to the music products industry began when his cousin opened a small music store in Waukesha, Wisconsin, in 1955. In 1961, his brother Jerry took over the business and renamed it the White House of Music. Roger joined his brother as a salesman in 1967 and quickly demonstrated a vision for expanding the school music segment, helping grow that area of the business to great success. Through his work with school music programs, Roger became a strong supporter of NASMD and numerous music education initiatives. In 2001, as he transitioned into semi-retirement, his son Chris assumed the role of president of the company, continuing the family legacy. Twenty-three years after his first NAMM Oral History interview, Roger sat down with us again to reflect on key milestones since that time, including the proud moment when his son Chris became Chair of the NAMM Board of Directors.
