Rosa Gil del Bosque was the only female founder of Amigos de la Guitarra de Valencia, an organization dedicated to presenting concerts that showcased the classical guitar in and around Valencia, Spain. A lifelong musician who began playing guitar as a child, Rosa composed several works for the instrument, including Melancolía and Evocación Romántica. In 1950, she joined a small group of guitar enthusiasts to establish the organization, helping to build what would become a cornerstone of classical guitar performance in the region. Over the decades, Rosa arranged many of the more than 600 concerts presented by the organization and served as its president for several decades. Through her leadership, passion, and unwavering dedication, she played a vital role in promoting the classical guitar and preserving its rich Spanish traditions for generations of audiences. Rosa’s life and work left a lasting legacy in the classical guitar community, inspiring musicians and audiences alike.
