The NAMM Foundation and Disney Channel today announced the recipients of “Disney’s High School Musical: The Music in You Grant Program” that encourages middle and high schools across the U.S. to put on their own school stage production of Disney’s “High School Musical.” This is the second year that the two organizations have teamed to support this public affairs initiative, which is designed to utilize the popularity of the “High School Musical” movies to encourage kids to get involved in music and the arts in school.
NAMM, the trade association of the international music products industry, and the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) hosted the second SchoolJam Texas teen battle of the bands competition in front of a full-capacity crowd of more than 500 at The Parish in Austin. The six finalist bands from all over Texas battled it out Feb. 28 and represented an array of styles from alternative to mariachi.
