The National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) today announced the session schedule for its new Hands-On-Training (H.O.T.) Zone at the 2010 NAMM Show, which will take place in Anaheim, Calif., Jan 14-17, 2010.

The National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM), has announced the 10 qualifying bands that received the most public votes in the first-ever SchoolJam USA competition. A national teen 'battle of the bands' that rewards both aspiring music makers and their respective school music programs, SchoolJam USA features the best amateur bands of teen musicians between the ages of 13 and 18. This year's top teen finalists hail from more than 20 U.S. cities, including Austin, Texas, St. Louis, Mo. and Washington, D.C.

The year was 1970 and it was a very different music products world filled with its own unique challenges. And it was during this year that a daring group of NAMM Members began what would become a 40-year-tradition by picking up and playing musical instruments and engaging in a “Grand March to the Exposition” to open The 1970 NAMM Show.

NAMM, the National Association of Music Merchants, today announced its NAMM University educational session schedule for the upcoming 2010 NAMM Show, which takes place January 14-17, 2010 at the Anaheim Convention Center. Kicking the show off Thursday morning will be a special 5th anniversary edition of the popular NAMM University Breakfast Session “Breakfast of Champions” where NAMM president and CEO, Joe Lamond will welcome champions of business and special surprise guests for a series of up-close and personal discussions.

NAMM, the National Association of Music Merchants, announced today that it will join the Coalition for Music Education in Canada in its sixth annual Music Monday event May 3, 2010, to demonstrate the importance of music education programs throughout North America, and to celebrate the many proven benefits of playing music for people of all ages.

 NAMM, the national association of music merchants, announced today that it was the one of the top 10 booths being searched for at interactive kiosks by attendees at the AARP conference this past weekend. According to Morgan Ringwald, NAMM’s Wanna Play? booth was extremely popular with people at the conference because of the many hands-on music-making sessions available for participation. The sessions included opportunities to play drums and percussion in a drum circle setting, ukuleles, harmonicas, organs, pianos and guitars.

School music programs across the U.S. being threatened by lack of funding will get some unexpected help from NAMM, the National Association of Music Merchants, and some great teen bands as part of the national SchoolJam USA competition.  The first year of the event drew more than 200 entries from a variety of unsigned bands across the country, with each band made up of talented teen musicians between the ages of 13 to 18.

The NAMM Foundation today announced that it is inviting school music educators to attend the third annual “Music Education Days” event at the NAMM Show, the largest music products trade show held annually in Anaheim, Calif. Although the NAMM Show is closed to the public, The NAMM Foundation invites music educators on Jan. 16 and Jan. 17, 2010 to learn about the instruments and accessories that can best help them teach their students how to learn and play music.

On September 11, 2009, NAMM was named a defendant in a class action lawsuit filed by David Giambusso on behalf of himself and others similarly situated.  The complaint, which was filed in the Southern District of California, alleges that NAMM conspired with Guitar Center and Fender to raise the prices of various musical instruments and related products, including guitars, violins, and strings.  Since that time, numerous additional complaints have been filed in California, Tennessee, Illinois, Kentucky and the District of Columbia.  In class actions such as this, it has become
