Many attendees got an early start to the third day of the 2004 NAMM Show by taking part in a variety of early-morning activities. Sales representatives were invited to a breakfast roundtable program, and all show-goers were welcome at the NAMM University sessions scheduled. Just before the exhibit halls opened, a crowd gathered in the Anaheim Convention Center lobby to take in a lively performance by Benise.

An early-morning performance by the Wicked Tinkers ushered in the second day of the 2004 NAMM Show. Once the doors to the exhibit halls opened, crowds poured into the halls for a full day of attending business meetings, checking out products and getting autographs from well-known musicians in attendance.

The Bacon Brothers, Kevin and Michael, will perform on Thursday, January 15, 2004, to close the first day of 2004 NAMM Show in Anaheim, Calif. The talented recording artists are outspoken advocates of music education and have joined forces with NAMM, the International Music Products Association, and its outreach programs and resources to help make sure every child has the opportunity to experience the proven benefits of making music.

NAMM, the International Music Products Association, today held its Annual Meeting of Members presided over by Chairman Paul Heid during the 2004 NAMM Show. After introducing past presidents in attendance, Heid called for the vote of the new slate of the NAMM Board of Directors. The following NAMM Members were elected for service from 2004 to 2007:

Centered around the theme “Believe in Music,” the 102nd NAMM Show opened today, bringing together a record 1,340 exhibiting companies, a record number of international attendees and thousands of retail buyers for the music products industry’s largest annual event in the United States.

Students from the Anaheim Union High School District today joined representatives from the City of Anaheim, the Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation, Yamaha Corporation of America and NAMM, the International Music Products Association, to kick off the opening of the 2004 NAMM Show at the Anaheim Convention Center. The students, who performed with NAMM’s “Fernand L. Petiot All-Industry Marching Band” to mark the opening of the four-day trade show, were among those who benefited from a $30,000 musical instrument donation to local area schools earlier this year.

NAMM, the International Music Products Association, and Boys & Girls Clubs of America have formed an alliance to bring an after-school music program called “Get the Music Edge” to Clubs nationwide over the initial three years. Working specifically with NAMM’s teen initiative, The Music Edge, the program aims to bring music-making opportunities to young people who might otherwise not have them.

The first day of the 2004 NAMM Show opened with the sounds of the annual Fernand L. Petiot All-Industry Memorial Band marching through the exhibit halls as they played “Taking Care of Business.” Among the performers in this year’s band were students from the Anaheim Union High School District, who benefited from a $30,000 musical instrument donation, proceeds of last year’s NAMM Show concert.

The music product industry’s contribution to the 115th Rose Parade, a first-time entry from NAMM, the International Music Products Association, and Sesame Workshop, was honored with the Isabella Coleman Award for Color and Color Harmony Through Floral Use.

NAMM, the International Music Products Association, has announced that Sir Ken Robinson, an internationally recognized expert in the development of creativity, innovation and human resources, will be the organization's first-ever opening keynote speaker. Sir Ken Robinson will open the 2004 NAMM Show with his address in the Anaheim Hilton California A Ballroom at 8 a.m. on January 15.

TEEN PEOPLE and PENCIL (Public Education Needs Civic Involvement in Learning) team up to host the first Music Appreciation Day at a New York City public school on January 13, 2004. Pharrell Williams (record producer, "The Neptunes," and member of N.E.R.D.), Ben Jelen (musician, Maverick Records) and FeFe Dobson (singer, Island/Def Jam Records) will lend a hand to empower, educate and motivate students to realize their dreams through creativity.

NAMM, the International Music Products Association, today announced that it will co-sponsor a float in the 2004 Tournament of Roses Parade™ with long-time partner Sesame Workshop and the American Music Conference (AMC). The theme for this year’s event is Music, Music, Music and “conducting” the 115th Rose Parade will be Grand Marshal John Williams, composer of award-winning music from more than 90 films including Star Wars, E.T., Superman and Harry Potter.
