Friedbert Wissmann pursued studies in information technology at the Technical University of Dresden and composition at the Carl Maria von Weber University of Music in Dresden earning diplomas in both fields in 1982. During his academic years, he was an active member of Schicht Theater, a song and theater group known for its politically charged performances, where he played the keyboard.
