Mouthpieces

Denis Wick was only 25 years old when he became the principal trombonist for the London Symphony Orchestra (LSO). Over the next 30 years, he played with the LSO and other world class orchestras on stage and recordings. Along the way, he felt a need to improve the mouthpiece he was using, so he created his own. Fellow musicians and his students made requests for the mouthpiece known as “A.” Soon he began producing the mouthpieces. The original idea was not to make a product to sell, but rather to address and fix problems that players were having. Therefore, next came the now famous

Stephen Wick's father Denis is a well-regarded classical musician. The passion for music growing up remains with Stephen to this very day.  Together father and son work in the company Denis, established to provide high-quality instrument accessories such as mouthpieces and mutes.  As an accomplished classical player himself, Stephen appreciates the need for high-quality products and the mission his father had to provide such products all around the world.  Stephen has played a key role in the expansion of their products into newer markets while staying focused on the core products

Gary Winder has been active in music sales for over 30 years. Gary worked with G. Leblanc and Coda Music Technologies before he moved on in 1997 to join Yamaha, finally serving as Director for National Sales. While with Yamaha, Gary created strong working processes with his team that not only assisted the company during the time, but resulted in many life long friendships.  In 2011, Gary moved onto Dansr where he has become entrenched in the diversity of the music reed business.

Abe Wollam was a close associate of Bud Reglein. Beginning in the 1940s, Abe worked with Bud at the jj Babbitt Mouthpiece Company out of Elkhart, IN. Abe developed strong engineering skills, which proved to be invaluable as the company grew over the years and required specialized tooling. As product development manager, Abe is credited for a host of unique designs as well as manufacturing methods, all of which have helped establish the fine reputation of the company and its products.  

Derek Wright is a dedicated co-owner of Houghton Horns, a renowned music store in Keller, Texas, originally founded in 1985 by Dennis and Karen Houghton with a strong emphasis on expert lessons and precision repairs. Guided by the mission to “spread the joy of music through providing the highest level of products, services, and resources to the brass playing community,” the Houghtons built a trusted team of passionate musicians and educators.
