Rob Bolger was just 14 when he first stepped into the legendary Norman’s Rare Guitars in Reseda, California — an experience that would shape his life forever. From those early days, Rob forged a close friendship with Norm and his then-partner Dan, learning invaluable lessons about business, integrity, and exceptional customer service. Since 1981, Rob has been a beloved fixture at the store, where his role transcends a mere job and becomes a true passion and calling.

Nick Dias teamed up with a friend to open Vintage & Rare, a vibrant music store on London’s legendary Denmark Street — a bustling hub of guitar shops that flourished in the 1980s. Always on the hunt for unique instruments, Nick began importing rare vintage guitars from Norman Harris in California, sparking not only a strong business partnership but also a lasting friendship. Eventually, Nick moved to California to work alongside Norm at Norman’s Rare Guitars in Tarzana, where his deep passion and infectious energy shine daily.

Norman Harris loves guitars! His vast knowledge and collection has made him one of the industry’s leading experts on vintage guitars and basses. As the founder of Norman’s Rare Guitars in Tarzana, CA, he played an important role in the great boom in vintage guitars that began in the 1980s. His passion for the instruments has made him a sought-after resource for articles, books and museum exhibits around the world. His first NAMM Oral History interview was completed on January 20, 2002 and his most recent aligned with the store's 50th anniversary in 2025. 

Michael Lemmo is the charismatic host of the popular “Guitar of the Day” video series on Norman’s Rare Guitars’ website and social media. These engaging videos not only spotlight remarkable instruments for sale but also share rich historical insights, dynamic demonstrations, and a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the friendly, music-filled atmosphere of the legendary Southern California store. Michael joined Norm’s in 2018, starting on weekends and contributing to segments like “Affordable Favorites” before taking over as the main host.

Rich Renken attended Dick Grove’s School of Music in California, where he first encountered the innovative craftsmanship of James Tyler Guitars. Instantly captivated by the meticulous design and exceptional playability of the instruments, he became deeply interested in both the guitars and the visionary behind them. James Tyler, a masterful luthier, started at Norman’s Rare Guitars in Tarzana, then the James Tyler Guitar Shop in North Hollywood where he specialized in repairs and customizing/modding guitars that changed the LA studio sound before founding his own guitar company.
