Job Title
Music Journalist

David Goggin was known throughout the industry as Mr. Bonzai, the author and photographer behind several books and thousands of articles on recording, engineering and the people who worked in the industry. To say he was a wealth of information about the recording industry was truly an understatement. Thanks to his talents as a writer, he shared much of his knowledge and many of his stories with his readers. His first recording studio experience occurred in 1967 as I Am the Walrus was recorded by The Beatles. And so began a lifelong love affair with the process and the people in the recording business. He managed a recording studio in California and then began writing about it. Among the books he wrote were the 2006 “Faces of Music” and the 2009 paperback “Music Smarts – The Inside Truth and Road-Tested Wisdom From the Brightest Minds in the Music Business.” In 2011, he hosted the 26th annual TEC Awards, the very first such program to take place during the NAMM Show.
