Whitney McNicol
Oral History Information
Whitney McNicol began her professional life as an accountant, a skill set that would later prove invaluable when her musician husband suggested they purchase a local music store. Whitney soon took charge of the company’s finances and operations, helping it grow into a thriving two-store business. Even during the challenges of the pandemic, her leadership and creativity kept the stores strong and connected to their community. Inspired by the musicians she served, Whitney decided to take lessons herself—and is now the drummer in Go Girl, a band of five women who share her love of making music. In 2024, her store was honored as Dealer of the Year at the NAMM Show, a moment of great pride for Whitney and her team. The following year, she had the honor of presenting the same award to the next winner, which she calls one of the highlights of her career. Whitney participated in the 2025 Women of NAMM (WoN) Leadership Summit, a yearly event designed to foster leadership development and expand participants’ professional networks.
