Continuing its 109-year-old commitment to the piano industry, NAMM today announced a roster of special performances and educational sessions at the upcoming 2011 NAMM Show for piano dealers. During the show, Level 3 of the Anaheim Convention Center will be transformed into "Lounge 88," an area for piano dealers and manufacturers to enjoy and appreciate the instruments and live performances inside. On May 2, 2011, the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) will again partner with the Canadian-based Coalition of Music Education in its seventh annual Music Monday. The North America-wide event celebrates the many proven benefits of making music for people of all ages and in the U.S. serves as the kick-off to NAMM's fifth annual National Wanna Play Music Week.

NAMM, the trade association for the international music products industry, today announced the education session schedule for this year’s Hands-On Training (H.O.T) Zone at the 2011 NAMM Show, offering the broadest educational experience for professionals in the recording, live sound, DJ, house of worship, commercial systems integrators, and stage and lighting industries in the history of the show.

The National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM), today announced the top 10 qualifying bands that received the most public votes in the second annual SchoolJam USA competition. A national program that rewards both aspiring teen music makers and their respective school music programs, SchoolJam USA features the best amateur teen bands between the ages of 13 and 19. This year’s top finalists hail from more than 20 U.S. cities, including Austin, Texas;  Charlotte, North Carolina;  and Washington, D.C.

The NAMM Foundation today announced the findings of a recent study that shows how group drumming can improve social and emotional behavior in low-income children. The study, that appears in the Oxford Journal: Evidence-based Complementary and Alternative Medicine, was conducted by the Pediatric Pain Program in the Department of Pediatrics at the David Geffen School of Medicine, University of California, Los Angeles.

 The NAMM Foundation announced today the availability of grants from its Wanna Play Fund for instruments, awarded to schools that are expanding or reinstating music education programs as part of their core curriculum and that employ quality music teachers. Kicking the show off Thursday morning will be a NAMM Show favorite, “Breakfast of Champions,” featuring NAMM President and CEO Joe Lamond as he welcomes the industry and a group of industry “champions” for a series of up-close and personal discussions about the current state and future of the profession.
