The National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) announced today that it will host its inaugural “Top 100 Dealer Awards” at the 2011 Summer NAMM Show in Nashville, Tenn. this July. This exciting new program will recognize outstanding NAMM Retailers during a gala event on Friday evening of Summer NAMM.

The NAMM Foundation announced today that employees of NAMM-Member companies who are pursuing education or careers in the music products industry can submit applications to be considered for a William R. Gard Memorial Scholarship. The deadline for submitting an application is March 31, 2011.

 The National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) today announced details about how Members can participate in the association’s upcoming 2011 Advocacy Fly-In event in Washington D.C. to support issues at the Congressional-level concerning the music products industry.

The most important deadline in corporate America today is the call for entries for the FORTUNE Battle of the Corporate Bands. For the 11th consecutive year, the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum (Rock Hall), will showcase the most talented musicians in the corporate world representing the nation's most progressive companies. All proceeds from the FORTUNE Battle of the Corporate Bands will benefit the Rock Hall's education programs.

A crowd of hundreds gathered at the Downtown Disney District on Saturday to cheer on 10 teen bands from across the country as they battled for the national title of "Best Teen Band" at the second annual SchoolJam USA. Peligro from Gahanna, Ohio took home the first-place platinum record in the live competition presented by the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) during the weekend of the music industry's celebrated NAMM Show.

The National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) today announced the final registration and exhibitor numbers for the 2011 NAMM Show, the largest and longest-running musical instruments and products trade show in the United States.

The fourth day of the NAMM Show featured the much-anticipated annual “Best In Show” breakfast session, with Frank Alkyer, publisher of Music Inc. magazine and panelists Brad Boynton of Rhythm Traders; Gordy Wilcher of Owensboro Music; Brian Reardon of Monster Music; John Grabowski  of Sweetwater Sound; Alan Friedman of Friedman Kannenberg & Company; Gayle Beacock of Beacock Music and Greg Billings of Steinway Piano Gallery.

Awards today to honor eight companies from outside of the music products industry that use music products in their television ads, helping to inspire people to make music. The recipients of the 2010 Wanna Play? Awards are: •      Honda for its “The Van Beckons” TV ad •      Hertz for its “Journey On/Amy’s Journey” TV ad •      Freecreditscore.com for its “Check It” TV ad •      Time Warner Cable for its “Band” TV ad featuring “The Mommyheads”

ANAHEIM, Calif., Jan. 15, 2011--NAMM held its Annual Meeting of Members today during the 2011 NAMM Show. After introducing past presidents in attendance, reviewing the new annual report and recapping highlights of the year, Chairman Tom Schmitt called for the vote of the new slate of the NAMM Board of Directors. The third day of the NAMM Show kicked off with more tips and advice to retailers on how to enhance their businesses at the morning Breakfast Session called “The Retail Doctor’s Guide to Growing Your Business” featuring Bob Phibbs, The Retail Doctor. Phibbs drew upon his extensive retail experience and direct style to impart valuable advice to retailers about how to set their businesses apart from others in a competitive market.

The second day of the NAMM Show drew a strong crowd to the morning Breakfast Session called “Lessons Learned: How Doing Business Now Has Changed for the Better,” which focused on sharpening retail business techniques. Danny Rocks of The Company Rocks and retail experts George Hines of Hines Music; Alan Rosen of Bananas at Large; Mark Goff of Paige's Music; and Gayle Beacock of Beacock Music discussed their personal experiences and shared business tactics that have worked for them.

Amid a backdrop of arts education budget cuts, The NAMM Foundation today announced that it will continue its effort to recognize schools across the United States that support music education and provide opportunities for children and young people to learn and grow with music.
