At the core of every NAMM member is a passionate champion for music education, and there is no better time to connect with fellow advocates, resources, and opportunities than at The 2017 NAMM Show. Each day of the show will present a multitude of events and opportunities to learn, network with peers, and to engage on topics at the fore of music education advocacy.

Following three decades of digital interfaces and sampler dominance, a new generation of musicians desiring a return to warm, pure sounds are fuelling a resurgence in analog synthesizer retail sales. In the past five years alone, Moog Inc., Korg USA Inc., WMD and other brands who will present their synths and electronic products at the 2017 global music products NAMM Show have helped drive the analog synth market to a 19.9% growth in total retail sales.

The NAMM Foundation is pleased to announce that it has recognized 60 college music students with the organization’s prestigious President’s Innovation Award. The annual award provides outstanding college music students exploring a career in music education, music business and/or music products a stipend to attend The 2017 NAMM Show, the annual global music products tradeshow held in Anaheim California, January 19-22, 2017.  

At The 2017 NAMM Show, inspiration and innovation, transformative business know-how, and leading strategies and tips for music industry professionals and businesses of all sizes will be offered through more than 120 free educational sessions. The Show’s NAMM U and TEC Tracks sessions have been designed to inspire members from various disciplines within the music products industry — from music product retailers and manufacturers to professionals in pro audio, live sound and lighting.

As part of its 32nd Annual NAMM Technical Excellence & Creativity Awards (NAMM TEC Awards), The NAMM Foundation has announced that rocker Joe Perry will receive the prestigious Les Paul Award.

Demonstrating a continued commitment to serve its community of professional audio members and attendees, The National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) has announced it will feature DanteTM training and certification sessions at its annual Anaheim, California trade show, January 20-21. The sessions will be presented at the show by Audinate, and will offer attendees the opportunity to experience an intensive two-days of hands-on training as part of the company’s Dante Certification Program.

School districts and schools with an exemplary commitment to music education curriculum are encouraged to apply for a national distinction as a Best Communities for Music Education.

NAMM Musikmesse Russia and Prolight + Sound NAMM Russia (September 14-17) concluded after four days of events, demonstrations, meetings, professional development opportunities, and exhibitions. Now in its fifth year, the annual exhibition took place at the Sokolniki Exhibition and Conference Center in the heart of Moscow and attracted 144 Russian and international manufacturers and distributors to present the latest in musical instruments, products and pro lighting and audio technologies to a crowd of over 16,000 unique visitors, an 11% increase from 2015.

Professional live sound will be in the spotlight at the 2017 NAMM Show with a dedicated track of seminars, panels and education that will focus on the world of touring audio. As part of the show’s TEC Tracks programming, Live Sound Day (Thursday, January 19) will bring together the industry’s top engineers, thought-leaders and brands in sound reinforcement to discuss key industry topics, offer advice and deliver training in a series of educational sessions.

In a star-studded event on Saturday, September 17, Memphis legends, music education patrons and community champions came together to “Play it Forward” at the Museum of Making Music’s (MoMM) Gala fundraiser event, “Soul, STAX, and Memphis Tracks.” The annual Gala event was attended by 150 museum patrons and raised over $55,000 in donations that will grant music education programs, museum access and scholarships to both children and adults in the San Diego community.

The NAMM Foundation has announced  nominees for its 32nd Annual NAMM Technical Excellence & Creativity Awards in the categories of Outstanding Technical and Creative Achievement. Stand-up comedian and actor Sinbad will return for his third straight year as host. The NAMM TEC Awards are bestowed annually in celebration of the pro audio community by recognizing the individuals, companies and technical innovations behind today’s sound recordings, live sound, films, television, and video games.

Calling all school music programs: The NAMM Foundation and The John Lennon Educational Tour Bus are gearing up to bring a hands-on and high-tech music-making experience to three school districts with a recording residency on The Lennon Bus.
