Once a year, the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) turns the spotlight on some of the most creative, engaging ads that feature music instruments and music making.

Last night, one of Knoxville, Tenn. teen bands’ dreams came true, as they were crowned “Best Teen Band in the USA,” at the National Association of Music Merchants’ (NAMM) SchoolJam USA competition at Downtown Disney District.

NAMM Musikmesse Russia is pleased to announce the participation of Taylor Guitars, Hal Leonard, König&Meyer, Beltmann Piano, Avallon/GV United, MixArt, and Hunter Musical Instruments as well as many others, at its premier show, to be held May 16-19, 2013. Prolight + Sound NAMM Russia 2013, which focuses on technologies and services for events, installation and production, runs May 16-18, 2013 at IEC Expocentre, Moscow.

The National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) honors legendary music producer Randy Jackson with its highest honor, the “Music for Life” award. Jackson is recognized for his pervasive influence in the music world, and his longtime encouragement of budding music-makers. Introducing the GRAMMY-winning producer, musician, songwriter, best-selling author, entrepreneur and beloved television personality to a packed house during the 2013 NAMM Show’s Breakfast of Champions, NAMM president and CEO Joe Lamond refers to Jackson as one of music’s true renaissance men.

Marking 10 years of advocacy for music education, the NAMM Foundation’s SupportMusic Coalition will gather at a celebration event and live webcast from NAMM Show 2013 on Friday, January 25. The event features performances and special-guest appearances. All music education supporters are encouraged to attend SupportMusic’s 10th Anniversary event to be held at 2 p.m. in the NAMM Foundation Lounge located in the Anaheim Hilton’s California Ballroom.

The creative uses of musical instruments and music-making products in television commercials will be honored at the 2013 NAMM Show as the industry presents the NAMM Excellence Award for Music in Advertising. Finalists will be announced January 27 at the 2013 NAMM Show held January 24-27 at the Anaheim Convention Center.

An array of top audio producers, engineers and musical talent will take the stage to recognize the achievements of their peers at the 28th Annual Technical Excellence and Creativity (TEC) Awards. Presented by the TEC Foundation for Excellence in Audio, the audio industry’s most prestigious awards event will be held on Friday, January 25 at the Hilton Anaheim during the 2013 NAMM Show.

According to a new Harris Poll commissioned by the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM), technology such as musical apps and online lessons is inspiring more than a quarter of young people between 8 and 21 years old to learn to play. Brands exhibiting at the 2013 NAMM Show will mirror the trend, debuting hundreds of tech-driven products that offer fresh, interactive ways to learn and make music.

For his storied history in the music products industry, Patrick Selmer receives the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award from NAMM. As president of French saxophone maker Henri Selmer Paris since 1998, Patrick Selmer, leads the iconic brand with his cousins Brigitte and Jerome Selmer. He is the fourth generation of Selmer’s to run the business founded by his great-grandfather in 1885.

When the business is music, combining business with pleasure is no problem. The NAMM Show will feature four solid days of live music and events to keep the fun in doing business at the 2013 NAMM Show in Anaheim, CA, January 24-27. In addition to the many celebrity guest appearances, artist signings and performances that NAMM Members will be hosting, NAMM has scheduled 10 stages with 150 live music acts, award shows, teen band competitions, hands-on music making and more.

The National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) year-round advocacy efforts for school music education include an annual Advocacy Fly-In to the nation’s capital that NAMM Members are encouraged to attend. The 2013 Fly-In is scheduled for March 18-21. When communities support comprehensive music education in schools, kids, parents, communities and the music product industry win.  

A blast from the past will ring out at the 2013 NAMM Show as manufacturers responding to consumer demand introduce new products with a vintage look and sound. Retailers, having heard the growing demand for vintage-inspired musical instruments and equipment will be looking for new products that meet the demand of customers clamoring for unique pieces. The NAMM Show returns to Anaheim, CA from January 24-27, 2013.
